Winning of call of tender in the Kingdom of Bahrain to design the new Air Traffic Control Centre of Bahrain International Airport

Groupe ADP, through its 100%-owned subsidiary, ADP Ingénierie, has been selected by the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications of the Kingdom of Bahrain to design and carry out work supervision of the new Air Traffic Control Centre of Bahrain International Airport.

Winner of the international tender organized by the Air Navigation Service, representing the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications (MoTT) of the Kingdom of Bahrain, ADP Ingénierie, a Groupe ADP subsidiary, has been selected for the design and the supervision of works for the new Regional Air Traffic Control Centre located at Bahrain International Airport.

ADP Ingénierie has just signed an 18-month contract, which addresses two priorities:

  • To maintain and elevate the efficiency of the region’s air traffic control operations, in strict compliance with international standards, mainly during en-route flight phases;
  • To upgrade the air navigation facilities to cope with the rapid growth in the region’s air traffic and to allow airlines to optimise their capacities, while enabling them to operate safe and efficient flights.

The approach of ADP Ingénierie, based on a three-level design, makes it possible to ensure the continuous use of systems by segregating the space dedicated to equipment from that devoted to the operational functioning. This design eases the servicing and the maintenance of the equipment.

The unique character of the building stems from the maximum use of natural light, the shade over the rest area accessible to the centre’s employees, and a signature with a roof terrace open to the outside. The combination of concrete walls and columns, steel framing and composite decks, lends the building a harmonious modernity that blends in with the new passenger terminal nearby, also designed by ADP Ingénierie.

Gratien Maire, CEO of ADP Ingénierie declared: "The decision of the authorities of the Kingdom of Bahrain to award ADP Ingénierie the contract for the design studies for the new Air Traffic Control Centre bolsters our presence in the country and their recognition of our expertise. This choice comes while we are already in the process of designing the airport’s new passenger terminal. The close and trusting relationship with this customer, combined with the detailed knowledge of their expectations, has enabled us to meet the specific needs expressed for this new air traffic control centre."
