Groupe ADP is stepping up to respond to the rapid deterioration of the Covid-19 in India, a country where the group is present through its partner GMR Airports. Groupe ADP is thus to contribute €75,000 to the medical relieve initiative fostered by the French Diplomacy, in partnership with the Indian Red Cross and the French-Indian Chamber of Commerce.
The sanitary situation in India has been deteriorating at a dramatic pace over the past few weeks, due to the spread of Covid-19 variants, some of which are endemic. With over 350,000 confirmed positive cases daily diagnosed since April 24th, the Nation's hospital system is in urgent need of medical equipment: respirators, oxygen, medicines in order to treat the increasing number of patients especially in Delhi.
Responding to this this dire humanitarian situation, Groupe ADP immediately joined the French Embassy's mobilization, which, under the impetus of H.E. Emmanuel Lenain, Ambassador, and with the assistance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Indian Red Cross and the Franco-Indian Chamber of Commerce, identified a supplier of Oxygen Generators, RX 400 Premium, able to supply oxygen for hospital networks or filling cylinders (up to 8 simultaneously).
Groupe ADP is thus contributing €75,000 to the acquisition of this equipment. This financial contribution comes in addition to the full mobilisation of the GMR Airports teams - member of Groupe ADP - to ensure that Delhi Airport serves as a key logistical hub for the delivery of this equipment sent by the International Community. In addition, GMR Varalakshmi Foundation is mobilising all its resources to help the people in Andhra Pradesh thanks to the hospital it operates in this region.
Augustin de Romanet, Chairman and CEO of Aéroports de Paris SA - ADP Group, states about this mobilisation: "India and its people are facing a dire situation in the context of the current pandemic. It is the duty of Groupe ADP to provide logistical and material support to the caregivers who are fighting a relentless battle to save lives. Our partners and friends at GMR Airports are fully mobilized to make possible the efficient supply of the international aid, especially at the Group's airports in Delhi, and, in this respect, I would like to salute their unfailing commitment at a time when their teams are heavily hit."
