Groupe ADP unveils NOUVELL'AIRe, its new center of excellence embodying the group's ambitions in low-carbon architecture and construction. The first concrete, tangible projects are already seeing the light of day.
"Airport engineering and architecture are undergoing major changes, as airports play a key role in decarbonizing air transport. Groupe ADP's architects, experts, engineers and design offices are now proudly and decisively embracing a new approach to their profession, and are making their mark on sustainable construction, in terms of design, construction and energy consumption", emphasizes Baptiste Maurand, Chieff Engineering and Capital Projects Officer at Groupe ADP.
NOUVELL'AIRe is a catalyst for internal and external sustainable construction solutions. This vision directly echoes the “2025 Pioneers” strategic roadmap, in which sustainable construction is one of Groupe ADP's major areas of transformation.
NOUVELL'AIRe also has a physical location, the NOUVELL'AIRe Hub at Paris-Orly. This space for internal and external exchange and creation is equipped with :
- a materials showroom displaying 250 samples of materials and products - including bio-sourced ones - with architectural qualities, focusing on three themes: environment, innovation and identity of Groupe ADP;
- a documentation center with over 2,000 books on sustainable development, architecture, construction and the aeronautical world;
- a space for creativity and meetings with othe Groupe ADP' departments and with external partners.
First concrete projects:
- Paris-Orly 4 airport revolutionizes its upper floors with the transformation of level 6 at Orly 4
The top floor of Orly 4 is being transformed and will feature a new energy-efficient facade, using both new construction methods (off-site prefabrication, reuse) and sustainable materials (wooden structure, bio-sourced insulation, solar roof tiles). This floor will feature a burnt-wood construction process, photovoltaic panels and extensive planting (trees, green walls, etc.).
Conceived as a hanging garden, this project prefigures the environmental renewal of Paris-Orly.
- OLGA Smart Innovative Lighthing luminaires
Designed as part of the European hOListic Green Airport (OLGA) project, OLGA Smart Innovative Lighting luminaires help to improve the operation of buildings by improving energy performance through a 40% reduction in electricity consumption and by reducing the number of maintenance operations required (increased repairability, limited number of components, adaptability of optics, etc.).
The diamond-shaped design of these luminaires can be replicated and is perfectly suited to any architectural situation in an airport terminal.
Tried out in the TGV-train station at Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport, this innovative lighting improves passenger comfort through the quality of the light. HCL (Human Centric Lighting) adapts the colour temperature to the circadian rhythm of passengers.
- The future Paris-Orly airport' Environment and Territories Centre
This development project is a unique 1,200 m² space combining work areas and event areas open to public (exhibitions, conferences, information centre).
At the beginning of 2025, it will house the Environment and Territories centre of Paris-Orly ariport, which will be a showcase for environmental innovation and a privileged place for relations with the areas around the airport.
This project has been certified by the CIRCOLAB circular economy label.
